DR’s new, proprietary, K3™ Technology color coating has NOT stripped away, or peeled away, under the simulated playing conditions we have put it through in factory tests. On an 8 pick rotating wheel where one pick strikes the same spot on a string one time per second the K3™ coating lasts far longer than the previous, outsourced coating. After considerable striking there is usually a worn spot, and some dust from the coating, and picks. The new K3™ coating has not peeled, or stripped away, during our documented factory testing. Recent reports from live performances have confirmed the pronounced improvement, as well as the distinct musicality of the K3™ Technology coating.

 K3™ Coating Care

 The K3™ coating on EXTRA-life strings is designed for use with standard picks and fingers. The K3™ coating can be damaged by scraping against metal. It is important that care be taken when stringing guitars and basses where the strings are passed through a metal block or bridge. Scraping can damage the coating.
