RARE wound on Hexagonal Cores
Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings. Low tension...the sound is loud and warm.

The Rare phosphor bronze acoustic strings are departure from the standard, good quality bronze string currently available...not necessarily better, but possessing a new, different, and stronger “voice”. When DR set out to produce a string with new characteristics, our goal was to redesign contemporary thinking about what phosphor bronze can do for a good acoustic guitar. Hand-carved arch-tops and dreadnaughts and good steel string acoustic guitars of rosewood, maple, and mahogany seem to benefit from a distinct improvement in tone, depth, and sustain with Rare phosphor strings. Players who want a  fatter and louder sound, as well as a deeper bottom (who like to hear their guitars ring out) will appreciate the Rare phosphor tone, sound, and feel. According to our heavy-playing bluegrass friend, three time national guitar picking champion Steve Kaufman, Rares last an unusually long time. Steve recommends DR to all his students.

SUNBEAM wound on Round Cores
Sunbeam phosphor bronze strings are handwound upon round cores which give a terrific result...wonderful sustain...remarkable sustain.

The tone does not seem to decay as do other phosphor bronze strings, which we think of as decaying in a curve. The Sunbeam phosphor seem to sustain in a straight line, until the sound "falls off". The Sunbeam phosphor are also musically bright, and rich sounding. Additionally they are very flexible...more so than any other string we have played.

Our intention in developing Pre-Alloy phosphor bronze strings was to achieve for acoustic players a high quality, long-lasting string that is bright and unusually well-balanced in tone (first) and volume (second). We are now making available an entirely All-American Alloy phosphor bronze strings of great clarity and great durabilty.

HI-BEAM 80/20

Hi-Beam 80/20 acoustic are designed for extra brightness, to cut through the ensemble playing of bluegrass musicians, as well as derive extra clarity from heavily braced, or dull sounding guitars. Wrapped upon a hex core the new Hi-Beam 80/20 acoustic are handmade and handwound for great tone, and increased longevity.
