Freekbass hails from Cincinnati, Ohio and honed his chops at an early age in the local music scene, known for its rich history of Funk. Legendary funk icon Bootsy Collins (who gave him his nickname during a studio session), produced his first two albums, dubbing Freekbass "The new Spiritual Warrior for the Funk". Freekbass jumpstarted his music career touring consistently and has played onstage or recorded with a multitude of notable musicians including Bootsy, Catfish Collins, Buckethead, Corey Glover, Umphery's McGee, Mike Gordon, and Dumpsta Phunk, to mention some highlights. And he's written and collaborated with so many talented artists, such as Stefan Lessard (DMB), Billy Sheehan, Mudbone Cooper, Doug Wimbish and Karina Rykman, to name a few. His side project, "Headtronics" featured Freekbass on bass, DJ Logic on beats, Richard Fortus (GnR) on guitar and Steve Molitz on keys. The group performed completely improv, creating original music, live on stage. n nFreekbass has released nine albums to date, including his 2020 release "Krameria", from Eddie Robert’s label (The New Mastersounds), Color Red. Childhood friend and Grammy Award winning songwriter (Smooth), Itaal Shur, co-wrote several of the new tracks on the album, "All The Way This. All The Way That.” n nFreekbass has graced the cover of Bass Musician Magazine, Bass Guitar Magazine/UK, three times, and has been featured in Bass Player Magazine, several more. Recognized for his bass playing, as well as instruction techniques, Freekbass is featured on several bass teaching platforms and videos. He has hosted master classes at “Bass Player Live” in Los Angeles and New York, “The London Bass Guitar Show”, UK and “Gerald Veasley's Bass Boot Camp” in Philadelphia, PA. Freekbass tours as a one-man band, making his solo debut at the final “Sacred Rose Festival” in 2022. Essentially, he performs as a DJ (beats/samples/grooves), who adds live instrumentation: bass, guitar, keys, talk box and percussion, using a BOSS RC-505 loop station. He occasionally also hits the road as bass player for other touring bands or can be seen as “Artist at Large” at festivals. n nFreekbass has simultaneously segued into the world of live-streaming music, performing live original tunes on TikTok, while engaging with his virtual audience. In December 2024, Freekbass was crowned “US Creator of the Year, Top 10” for TikTok Live Fest, placing 6th in the USA. This honor lead to Freekbass being featured larger-than-life on Time Square billboards in NYC for one week in December, along side select TikTok Live Fest winners. And as 2025 rolled in, Freekbass attended the awards show in London, where he was awarded “Top 100 Global Best Creator” for TikTok Live, finishing 65th in the world.nnFreekbass has released a new single every month, with each fresh tune available on all streaming platforms. His next album, planned for release by summer 2025, will feature all original songs he created during his live streams and will be available on vinyl and CD in addition to digital.
