MOMAR BALSAMO
"Playing is more of a heart thing for me so my bass doesn't just need to sound right, it also needs to FEEL right. DR strings give me that no-compromise quality between sound and feel, which allows me to communicate what I feel through my bass."

BIO
Momar’s love for music started at home with his dad playing classics from the Bee Gees, Carpenters, Chicago, and Earth, Wind & Fire. His sister, a singer, let him tag along to her practices and gigs, which only fueled his curiosity. He started with electric guitar and drums at their church, but everything changed when he heard Abraham Laboriel Sr.’s bassline on “Mourning into Dancing”. His mentor, Julius Bernales, played it, and Momar knew bass was his thing. For the past 17 years, Momar has been holding down the groove for top Philippine artists, specializing in R&B and Gospel while skillfully traversing a wide range of genres. He has played for chart-topping hitmakers such as Zack Tabudlo, TJ Monterde, Flow G, Moira Dela Torre, Skusta Clee, Janine Tenoso, Jay R Sillona, and Arthur Miguel—artists who collectively garnered an astounding 2.2 billion Spotify streams in 2024 alone. Momar has also played for notable performing artists including Billy Crawford, Kris Lawrence, Sam Concepcion, Mica Javier, Frizzle Anne, Quest, Pauline Laron, Will Mikael, Arron Rebustes, Leanne & Naara, SUD, Espasouls, and Dear Dahlia. By day, Momar’s a passionate IT leader, husband, and dad. By night, he’s all about the groove, keeping the basslines steady and making music bounce. He uses ProTools and is always up for remote collaborations. Like many from the Philippines he is fluent in Tagalog as well as English! And of course, music is the universal language.
