"The main reason I use the DDT7-10 and DDT7-11 is that they are long-scale strings that maintain a solid sense of tension even when tuned to lower pitches. Especially for a style like mine, which relies heavily on down-tuning, the definition of the low strings and their response when picked are crucial. I feel these gauges strike the perfect balance. Furthermore, the low end isn’t just heavy—it also delivers a clear sense of chord definition and separation. This makes it resistant to muddiness even during fast riffs and complex phrases, and it’s easy to work with in the recording studio. It also maintains stable pitch in live settings, so the notes don’t waver even when played hard. This makes it easy to create a tight sound while retaining a crisp attack. Currently, I’ve switched only the 7th string to .065 gauge, while keeping the DDT7-10 gauge on strings 6 through 1. By making only the bass strings slightly thicker, I aim for a balance that ensures stability and tightness in the low end without compromising the feel and playability of the strings below the 6th.nnAbove all, the excellent value for money offered by this setup is a major draw. I use the DDT7-10 when prioritizing balance, and the DDT7-11 when I want even more tension and stability."
